About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Fire Safety Engineer to join our team at TRACTEBEL, a leading player in the nuclear business in the UK. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our clients' assets and personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in feasibility studies, design studies, and modification studies of fire, explosion, and internal flooding protection installations.
  • Conduct audits and diagnostics of fire, explosion, and internal flooding protection installations.
  • Perform internal fire, explosion, and flooding calculation and simulation studies.
  • Determine suitable and pragmatic recommendations that cope with the project and client's objectives/constraints.
  • Validate the coherence between the required and existing protection/detection means.
  • Check study compliance with on-site situation and include the Return of Experience (REX) and draft the reports.
  • Determine and recommend suitable on-site adaptations (protection/detection means).
  • Present and share analyses with the client.
  • Ensure budget, planning, and studies scope are compliant with project and client requirements.
  • Participate in equipment and services procurement with the support of a buyer and a Senior Fire Engineer.
Requirements
  • Hold a relevant master-level engineering degree (Mechanical engineer, Fire safety Engineer, Nuclear Engineer is an asset).
  • Familiar with fire safety and/or fluid mechanics modelling.
  • Proficient with calculation & simulation software (Magic, Sylvia, FDS/Pyrosim, Flashcat, or equivalent).
  • Master the English language (any knowledge of French, though not required, would be a plus).
  • Hold or be eligible to hold BPSS level clearance.
  • Good computer and data processing skills.
  • Able to draft reports, technical papers, and synthesis documents.
  • Ability to work autonomously, but not afraid to ask questions.
  • Inquisitive and critical mind.
  • Flexible and creative in finding technical solutions.
  • Methodical, conscientious, organized, team-player, innovative, client-oriented.
