About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our expanding Edinburgh team. As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key part in the Mechanical Design team and will have the opportunity to lead projects and mentor junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Ensure an understanding of project briefs, design and specification of all Mechanical Building Services systems, and carry out the production of detailed calculations using industry-standard software tools.
  • Design and Specification: Collaborate with the BIM team to prepare models and drawings, and represent the organisation at meetings with clients and contractors.
  • Site Management: Conduct site surveys, inspections, and monitor site works, and report and technical note writing.
  • Quality and Governance: Adhere to all quality, environmental, and governance processes, and manage elements of project delivery and an understanding of budget costings.
  • Reporting and Communication: Review progress, including reporting any anomalies and changes of scope to the project lead, and make presentations to and attend meetings with clients.

Requirements

  • Education: Degree qualified, or equivalent qualification, in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or related subjects.
  • Technical Skills: Good level of computer literacy in a range of mechanical digital tools, awareness of building physics principles, and experience of working in a design consultancy and/or contractor design environment.
  • Soft Skills: Able to take charge of personal project deliverables, make decisions on developing the discipline design elements, act on own initiative, and operate in a pro-active way.
