Receptionist/Clerical Officer Job Description

This part-time Receptionist/Clerical Officer role is based within the Outpatient Department at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior staff members to ensure the smooth operation of our busy Outpatient Reception areas.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Fostering positive relationships with wards, clinical teams, GPs, and other support staff.
  • Delivering exceptional patient service by providing a caring approach to patients and visitors.
  • Escalating complex patient queries and issues to line managers or relevant clinical staff.

Key requirements for this role include previous experience in a healthcare or public setting, specifically in clerical/administration roles including filing and/or reception.

A GCSE level qualification in English Language and Maths, grade C or above, is also mandatory for this position.

Please be aware that this is a part-time role, working 30 hours per week across four different Outpatient Reception areas at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. The estimated salary for this position is around £23,000-24,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
