Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Estimation Specialist to join our team at ZipRecruiter. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical estimation, with experience working with HV/MV electrical substation construction projects.

As an Electrical Estimation Specialist, you will be responsible for developing accurate cost estimates for comprehensive electrical projects. You will work closely with key customers, including Contractor of Choice (COC) utility and EPC companies, to understand their project needs and develop tailored estimates.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will also have a solid understanding of electrical industry productivity rates, union workforce management, and project scheduling software.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Familiarity with HV/MV electrical substation construction work and terminology is essential.
  2. Able to accurately take-off elements of the work and assign them to appropriate items in the estimating database.
  3. Develop required bid clarifications and exclusions to complement estimates and address identified risks and gaps in scope.
  4. Organize estimates to meet project needs.
  5. Estimate requirements for craft support labor, staff, equipment, and facilities based on analyzing crew sizes.
  6. Develop bid risk analysis for project elements and assign applicable contingency.
  7. Develop preliminary lifting plans and select appropriate cranes and equipment.
  8. Collaborate with the planning team to generate a detailed resource-loaded schedule for bid submittals.
  9. Monitor project scope to ensure all trades are coordinated for a complete project offering.

Requirements:
  1. 6+ years of relevant field and/or office experience, including a minimum of 4 years as an electrical substation estimator or field engineer involved with estimating or cost monitoring.
  2. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  3. Understanding of HV/MV electrical Air Insulated Substations (AIS) and Gas Insulated Substations (GIS) is a plus.
  4. Firm knowledge of electrical industry productivity rates utilizing a union workforce is a plus.
  5. Understanding of refinery, terminal, power plant, and other heavy industrial electrical facilities is a plus.
  6. Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Accubid or equivalent estimating software, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with project scheduling software such as Primavera and Microsoft Project is a plus.
  7. Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects independently.
  8. Ability to travel for pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
  9. This position may require occasional extended workdays.
