Main Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Department, providing scientific support and advice to service users. They will contribute to service delivery in all sections of the laboratory, including Special Haematology and the HMDL service.

Key Duties
  • Evaluate new tests and technologies prior to introduction into the laboratory as part of service improvement.
  • Work with senior scientists in maintaining analytical quality, ensuring that any problems with IQC and EQA are promptly addressed and prevented.
  • Participate in relevant laboratory Quality, Management, and Audit meetings.
Person SpecificationTraining and Qualifications
  • First or second class honours degree in Haematology, Masters degree (or assessed equivalent level of knowledge) in the speciality of Clinical Haematology or evidence of near completion. Complete or near completion of pre-registration Clinical Scientist training program.
  • PHD.
Experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of clinical haematology.
  • Understanding of problem solving and quality assurance.
  • Able to use laboratory computer systems and standard software packages.
Research
  • Carried out audit(s), have evidence of science related research and research project(s) undertaken.
Desirable
  • Evidence of recent published research undertaken or abstracts/presentations at scientific meetings.
