Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs, helping them access the curriculum and engage fully in their learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special educational needs
  • Assist classroom teachers with implementing personalized learning plans and adapting materials to meet individual needs
  • Support students with a range of SEN requirements, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and physical impairments
  • Encourage students to develop independence, social skills, and positive behavior through tailored interventions
  • Help students with day-to-day tasks, including classroom activities, and ensure they can participate fully in school life
  • Monitor and record student progress, sharing insights with teachers and SENCOs to adapt learning plans accordingly
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment for all students
  • Assist with personal care tasks when necessary, ensuring the dignity and comfort of students
  • Work closely with the SENCO and wider school team to ensure consistent, high-quality support
  • Support students during transitions, such as moving between lessons, and ensure they feel settled throughout the school day
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to foster their emotional wellbeing and engagement in school
Requirements:
  • A strong interest in supporting students with special educational needs
  • Previous experience in a similar role or working with young people with additional needs is desirable, but not essential
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm approach when working with students facing challenges
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with staff, students, and parents
  • An understanding of different SEN conditions and strategies for supporting students with varied needs
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support is beneficial but not required
