About the Role

AfID is seeking a highly skilled International Development Auditor to join our team. As a key member of our audit team, you will be responsible for conducting expenditure audits of a diverse range of projects funded by international donor institutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting audits of projects funded by international donor institutions, including emergency aid, long-term development, and commercial projects
  • Reviewing supporting documents to ensure expenditure is genuine and for the purposes intended by the donor
  • Assessing internal controls of NGOs and government partners to identify areas for improvement
  • Providing on-the-job training and guidance to junior team members
  • Collaborating with clients and stakeholders to discuss findings and recommendations

Requirements

  • Qualified ACA/ACCA or equivalent audit qualification
  • Experience in grant funding, reporting, or audit
  • Diplomacy and cultural sensitivity when working with diverse clients and beneficiaries
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation skills
  • Team worker with resilience and adaptability

Personal Attributes

  • At least two-three years of audit experience
  • Ability to work under pressure with strong planning, organisational, and time management skills
  • Passionate about international travel and development, with a willingness to work in international locations for 30% plus of the time
