Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our team at an established College in Oxford City Centre. As a key member of our Hall team, you will provide exceptional service to our clients, including Fellows, students, staff, and conference delegates.

The successful candidate will work on a part-time, permanent basis, with a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends. You will be responsible for providing food service, maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness, and ensuring a positive image of the College.

Main Responsibilities

Food Service

  • Provide service from the Servery counter during breakfast, lunch, and dinner, ensuring that food is served promptly and efficiently.
  • Oversee the running of the salad bar, maintaining adequate food levels and ensuring that the required standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained.
  • Operate the tills in the Servery, as required, and clear away unused food after meals.

Food Preparation and Hygiene

  • Assist in the preparation of the Servery prior to meals, ensuring that all equipment and utensils are clean and ready for use.
  • Check and record temperatures, maintaining accurate records of cleaning schedules within the Hall and Servery.
  • Assist the Duty Chef with food preparation in the afternoon, as required, and pass prepared food to the casual waiting staff for service.

Cleaning and Presentation

  • Ensure that all serving utensils are clean and ready prior to breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and remove all clean crockery and cutlery from the wash-up trolleys or Green crockery trolleys.
  • Assist in clearing away the plate trolleys during and after meal service, and assist with the cleaning of tables in Hall after meal service.

General

  • Take the dirty laundry from the Hall and Kitchen to the Linen Room, and make coffee as required.
  • Assist with stocktaking, and ensure that the Servery area is tidy and well-organized.
