Dental Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dental Nurse to join our team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (279). As a Dental Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our dental department.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the restorative, paediatric dental and orthodontic team in delivering a high-quality service, including preparing and assisting in clinics, giving pre and post-operative instructions, and carrying out clinical tasks such as taking dental impressions.
- Provide dental nursing care for paediatric dental patients who have experienced dental trauma, or have complex medical history, and or behavioural special needs.
- Assist the clinicians by providing chair-side assistance during examination and treatment of patients, anticipating their needs and meeting these, thereby providing a high-quality service with optimal efficiency.
- Perform cross-infection control procedures, in accordance with the Trust's Cross Infection Policies.
- Dispose of clinical and non-clinical waste appropriately, in accordance with Trust Waste Disposal policy.
- Prepare all impressions and appliances for transfer to our in-house orthodontic laboratory, ensuring the laboratory prescription forms are completed and signed by the clinician.
- Complete patient documentation and records as appropriate.
- Maintain good communication and liaison with clinical, nursing, office, and laboratory staff to ensure that clinics are conducted effectively and efficiently.
- Assist in management of Medical Emergencies in accordance with good practice and Trust mandatory training.
- Assist with the maintenance of instruments and equipment, in accordance with good practice and national policies.
- Assist in monitoring health and safety at work, reporting hazards to the health and safety of patients and staff in accordance with the Trust's Health and Safety Policy.
- National Examining Board Certificate for Dental Nurses or equivalent.
- General Dental Council Registration.
- Previous work experience as a Dental Nurse.
- National Examining Board Certificate in Dental Radiography (desirable).
- A Certificate of Competency in Dental Impression Taking (desirable).
- Diploma in Specialist Orthodontic Nursing (desirable).
- Previously worked with children (desirable).
