JBA Consulting is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Director - Structural/Civil Engineer to lead our growing team of structural engineers in the flood and coastal defence sector.

We are a leading provider of engineering solutions for water-related projects, including flood and coastal defence schemes, habitat creation initiatives, river restoration, natural flood management, and civil infrastructure.

About the Role

As our Technical Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our structural engineering practice. You will be responsible for providing technical leadership, managing projects, mentoring staff, and driving business growth within this dynamic sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert guidance and oversight on all aspects of structural design for flood and coastal defence structures, bridges, and waterway navigation structures.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams in the delivery of projects from feasibility studies through to detailed design and construction.
  • Ensure adherence to project budgets and timelines while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Develop and nurture a team of talented engineers, providing mentorship and support for their professional development.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, effectively communicating technical information and project updates.
  • Contribute to the growth of our business by identifying new opportunities and developing innovative solutions.
About You

We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished structural engineer with a proven track record in the flood and coastal defence sector. You will possess exceptional technical skills, strong leadership qualities, and a passion for delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

Essential Qualifications:
  • MEng (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., ICE or IStructE)
  • Extensive experience in leading and delivering structural design projects within the flood and coastal defence sector.
  • Proven ability to manage teams, budgets, and client relationships.
