Job Summary

Pertemps TM is seeking a skilled and experienced School Cook to join our team in a dynamic educational institution. As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals to students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Menu Planning and Preparation: Develop and implement daily menus that meet the dietary needs and preferences of students, while adhering to nutritional guidelines and food safety regulations.
  • Kitchen Management: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and regulations.
  • Supply Chain Management: Order and manage food supplies, ensuring the availability of fresh and high-quality ingredients, while minimizing waste and optimizing budget.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations, promoting a positive and productive team culture.
  • Dietary Accommodations: Adapt menus to accommodate special dietary needs and allergies, ensuring that all students have access to safe and nutritious food options.
  • Food Quality Control: Monitor food quality, portion control, and minimize waste, ensuring that all meals meet the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Ensure proper maintenance of kitchen equipment, reporting any issues for repair and maintenance to prevent downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring that supplies are ordered and managed efficiently to meet the needs of the kitchen.
Requirements
  • Experience: Previous experience as a cook in a school, cafeteria, or similar setting is preferred, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality meals and maintaining a safe and clean kitchen environment.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques, familiarity with dietary restrictions and allergen management, and food hygiene and safety certification is a plus.
  • Organizational and Communication Skills: Strong organizational skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and effective communication and teamwork skills are essential for success in this role.
