Job Title: Advice and Immigration Assistant

We are seeking an experienced Advice and Immigration Assistant to join our team at Brixton Blog - Big Smoke. As an Advice and Immigration Assistant, you will provide specialist legal advice to foreign national prisoners and detainees in prisons and detention centres across London and the south of England.

About the Role:

  • Provide immigration advice to detainees and prisoners in prisons and detention centres.
  • Work closely with our advice workers to provide specialist legal advice and support.
  • Deal with requests for help by telephone and post from prisoners and detainees across the country.
  • Contribute to the development of our advice services and support the growth of our team.

About Us:

Brixton Blog - Big Smoke is a voluntary organisation dedicated to providing advice, information, and assistance to those who are detained or threatened with detention under Immigration Act powers. We have been providing our services for over 20 years and have a strong reputation for delivering high-quality advice and support.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of two years' full-time advice work experience.
  • Previous experience of work with detainees, work in prisons, and knowledge of immigration/asylum procedures would be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
