Position Overview

The Wyre Forest Health Partnership is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team, working 30 hours per week.

This role involves conducting a variety of nursing evaluations and delivering appropriate care and treatment in collaboration with General Practitioners, adhering to established practice policies and protocols.

We aim to enhance the quality of care and actively participate in identifying the healthcare needs of our patient population. Management of chronic conditions is a vital aspect of this position, along with the guidance and support of our Health Care Assistants.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Possess experience in diabetes management and cytology, or demonstrate a willingness to pursue relevant training.
  • Perform wound care, including management and dressing techniques, as well as leg ulcer care, doppler assessments, and compression bandaging.
  • Administer vaccinations for both adults and children under a tailored prescription or Patient Group Direction, ensuring the safe storage, rotation, and disposal of vaccines and medications.
  • Provide immunization services for adults and children in accordance with Patient Group Directions, following necessary training.
  • Implement infection control protocols when collecting and handling laboratory specimens, managing waste disposal, and addressing blood and bodily fluid spills, while also reporting and managing sharps injuries.
  • Respond to emergencies, including first aid for burns, hemorrhages, and hypo/hyperglycemic incidents, as well as asthma attacks.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Registered first-level nurse.
  • Experience in clinical supervision.

  • Relevant nursing or health-related degree.
  • Mentoring or teaching qualification.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential:

  • Clinical skills in areas such as cervical cytology, immunization, and ear care.
  • Ability to support patients in lifestyle changes.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Capability to convey difficult information to patients and their families.
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Desirable:
