Position Overview
The Corporate Operations Manager plays a pivotal role within the Trade Policy Group at the Department for Business and Trade. This position involves supporting the Trans-Pacific Negotiations and Policy (TNAP) Directorate, ensuring that operations are conducted efficiently, within budget, and with the right personnel to fulfill the department's objectives for economic advancement.
The Corporate Operations Manager collaborates closely with the Director and the Senior Management team, leading the TNAP corporate support team and overseeing the seamless execution of business operations for approximately 90 staff members and 4 Deputy Director sub-teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Director in the corporate management of the directorate.
- Oversee the operational delivery and alignment with corporate objectives.
- Manage a small team of Executive Assistants to ensure effective support.
- Lead forecasting and budget management efforts in collaboration with the Senior Management Team and central Finance teams to maintain budgetary compliance.
- Engage with Human Resources partners and the Senior Management Team on strategic resource planning to maintain optimal headcount and resource distribution across teams.
- Facilitate Finance and HR-focused Senior Management meetings.
- Collaborate with the Senior Management Team on future financial and recruitment strategies.
- Deliver on commissions such as Business Planning and Spending Reviews, working across groups and with the Senior Management Team.
- Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the corporate environment and culture of the directorate, engaging with the Senior Management Team on these initiatives and leading efforts where appropriate, particularly in areas such as the Employee Survey and team-building events.
Additionally, this role offers opportunities to engage in Trade Negotiations at various levels, from participating in negotiation rounds to contributing to policy development.
