Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have a strong background in working with adults with communication disorders caused by a wide range of aetiologies, including head and neck cancer, tracheostomy, and dysphagia.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient Head and Neck SLT services alongside the Head and Neck MDT and the existing Head and Neck SLT Team members.
  • Offer outpatient voice assessment, therapy, and management on a face-to-face and telehealth basis.
  • Deliver inpatient and outpatient tracheostomy work as needed, alongside our Specialist Respiratory SLTs.
  • Conduct inpatient acute ward sessions alongside the existing Acute Ward Team on a weekday basis.
  • Supervise and mentor our Band 5 team and Support Worker staff.

You will be joining an SLT team who are the current South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw ICB Quality Improvement Award Winners and the Trustwide Stars Wellbeing Champion Winners. We work closely with the SSNAP A-rated Stroke SLT service who were selected for the REACT research study based on their best practice. Our team is flexible, inclusive, and supportive with an above national average positive staff survey.

Doncaster is part of the South Yorkshire ICB, Stroke, and Head and Neck Networks. It has rapid direct train links to London, it is situated off the M18 only a short drive from Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham, and it is less than an hour to the Peak District.
