As a vital member of the team, you will deliver a comprehensive and high-quality call handling service for Oxford University Hospitals. This role is crucial in supporting a major trauma center, ensuring effective communication for emergency responses and various clinical services.

The Switchboard Operations Manager oversees the daily activities of the team, serving as the primary point of contact for incoming calls. The team is equipped to address general inquiries about the organization and efficiently direct callers to the appropriate departments. With extensive knowledge of key contacts and functions across the Trust, the team plays a pivotal role in facilitating communication.

In collaboration with your colleagues, you will develop the skills necessary to manage emergency calls and coordinate alerts to emergency response personnel. During clinical emergencies or significant incidents, the Switchboard team is essential in promptly notifying the required clinical and operational staff, directly impacting health outcomes and incident management.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Handle internal and external calls to the Switchboard.
  • Foster a positive and professional image of the Trust.
  • Serve as the initial contact for any complaints directed to the Trust.
  • Manage calls related to University Clinical Trials.
  • Assist with inquiries regarding patient locations, adhering to established procedures.
  • Report any complaints regarding the Switchboard to the appropriate management promptly.
  • Maintain a personal email account for communication with the management team, ensuring timely responses.
  • Support hospital staff in obtaining replacement analogue phones as per departmental protocols.
  • Utilize the electronic patient record system to locate patients securely, adhering to data protection guidelines.
