Peer Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Peer Support Worker to join our dynamic team in the South West & West Kent Area. As a Peer Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who are experiencing an acute episode in the community, as well as those who have been discharged from inpatient wards.
Key Responsibilities- Provide support to individuals within the service, using your lived experience of secondary mental health services to role model and empower service users.
- Work with service users on a one-to-one or group basis, helping them to establish greater control over their lives and identify aspects that give meaning, hope, value, and purpose.
- Contribute to the multi-disciplinary team, working collaboratively to ensure that the environment supports service users in reaching their individual recovery goals.
- Develop and maintain relationships with service users, staff, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the service.
- Lived experience of secondary mental health services.
- Ability to share your own life experiences and provide peer support.
- Good IT skills, including Word and Outlook.
- Ability to use the RIO electronic records system (desirable).
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with people with mental health needs (desirable).
- Car driver with full driver's license and insurance.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility to change and innovation.
- Ability to work a variety of hours to suit the needs of service users and the service.
