Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant

We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support our pupils across the school. This role will involve working with a small group of pupils who are struggling to access mainstream curriculum and supporting the teacher in delivering a modified support curriculum for them.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Working with pupils with complex needs, including behaviour, SEND, mental health, social and emotional needs, to ensure they can thrive in mainstream education.
  • Providing support with personal and social development, delivering academic and needs-based sessions that help pupils build self-esteem, skills, and aspirations to successfully engage with mainstream education.
  • Working with pupils in various formats, including group work, classroom, and one-to-one.
  • Providing academic and pastoral support for pupils as required.
  • Covering a whole class, which may include PE and music cover.
  • Serving as an additional point of contact for parents relating to academic and pastoral issues.
  • Supporting the other Designated Safeguarding Leads with aspects of safeguarding and welfare.
Requirements:
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills, with GCSE (or equivalent NVQ 2 level) Maths and English.
  • NVQ 2 or equivalent in teaching assistance or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of working in roles that expect a high level of contact with parents or members of the public and experience liaising with different stakeholders.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable young people with SEND/MH.
  • Good ICT skills.
