Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Rehabilitation Specialist who is innovative, enthusiastic, and motivated to become a part of our dedicated and collaborative team at National Star. This role offers a favorable work-life balance, with the possibility of part-time hours.
The position will primarily involve working with young adult learners who have complex physical and cognitive challenges, helping them to achieve their aspirations for independence and educational success. Our students typically engage in a comprehensive educational program, allowing us to foster meaningful relationships, conduct various assessments, and implement intervention strategies that facilitate significant progress and a sense of accomplishment.
Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will possess a diverse range of experiences, either in a similar capacity or with transferable clinical expertise that would enable effective support for our learners. Experience in areas such as pediatrics, neurology, acquired brain injury, mobility aids, complex disabilities, profound and multiple learning disabilities, or sensory integration will be particularly advantageous.
Excellent communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with other therapy teams, educators, residential staff, families, and external organizations.

Job Duties
Organizational Responsibilities:
- Reports to: Rehabilitation Services Manager
- Collaborates with: Students, families, therapy and educational staff, allied health professionals, and external agencies
- Senior Role: Supervises Rehabilitation staff
Primary Objectives: To function as a vital member of the Rehabilitation team, delivering high-quality therapeutic interventions that promote student learning and support their health and well-being. In a senior capacity, to oversee and mentor other members of the Rehabilitation team across various sites.
Working Conditions: Fixed-term contract with potential for permanent placement. Full-time position entails 43 hours per week over designated terms, with part-time options available.
Core Responsibilities:
- To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate rehabilitation programs to ensure the ongoing health and well-being of students while promoting their learning.
- To collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to address the needs and enhance the outcomes of students with diverse physical and cognitive challenges.
- To integrate therapy programs into educational and other activities, working in various environments including community settings, educational groups, work placements, and residential facilities.
- (Senior) To supervise the work of Rehabilitation staff and provide ongoing mentorship, ensuring adherence to college and professional standards.
- To manage a personal caseload and ensure the quality of practice.
- To maintain accurate and timely records in compliance with college and professional regulations.
- To adhere to all National Star policies and procedures, as well as professional codes of conduct.
- To engage in continuous professional development to uphold best practices and meet the needs of students.
- To communicate effectively with students, their families, and multidisciplinary team members.
- To foster productive relationships with students, the multidisciplinary team, and external organizations.
- To participate in self-assessment processes and contribute to the review of college policies as necessary.
- To undertake additional duties as required within the scope of the role.
