Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled speech and language specialist to oversee our acute care and stroke rehabilitation services at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. This role is pivotal in enhancing the quality of care provided to our patients.
Our facilities are equipped with advanced videofluoroscopy and FEES services, and your expertise in these areas will be essential. Proven leadership experience is crucial, as you will manage a team of junior therapists while collaborating with senior professionals across multiple hospital locations to maintain high standards of clinical practice.
As a prominent teaching hospital, you will engage with a diverse range of patients across various medical specialties, including geriatrics, respiratory care, cardiothoracic surgery, renal care, oncology, and critical care.
Our speech and language therapy service is committed to professional growth, offering robust support for continuing education through a variety of internal and external training opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments and provide management for patients experiencing acute dysphagia and communication challenges.
- Perform videofluoroscopic swallow studies (VFSS) and flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES).
- Supervise and mentor junior staff members.
- Facilitate training and educational sessions.
- Contribute to service enhancement initiatives.
