Job Title: Principal Application Engineer

Discover Financial Services, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Principal Application Engineer to join our team. As a Principal Application Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and delivering high-impact software solutions that meet the needs of our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement software solutions that address high-priority business and technology needs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate technical risks and issues
  • Participate in strategic technology decisions and provide expertise on software development best practices
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers to improve their skills and knowledge
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure Discover remains competitive

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on design and architecture
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions on time and within budget
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud-based technologies, such as AWS or Azure
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns
  • Experience with DevOps practices, including continuous integration and delivery
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions
