Job Title: Principal Application Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Application Engineer to join our team at Discover. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying scalable and efficient software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop high-quality software applications using various programming languages and technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize technical requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure that all code meets the highest standards of quality, security, and maintainability.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and apply this knowledge to improve our software development processes and tools.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to the growth and development of the team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on backend engineering.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages, including Java, Python, and C++.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS, and big data frameworks, such as Spark.
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns, architecture, and testing principles.
