Job Title: Special Needs Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Support Assistant to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a Special Needs Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Autism, ADHD, and Complex Learning Difficulties (CLD) to access the curriculum and develop key life skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to primary-aged students with Autism, ADHD, and CLD, assisting them with accessing the curriculum and developing key life skills.
  • Support the individual learning needs of students by implementing personalized learning plans, including behavioral, social, and emotional interventions.
  • Assist with the development of communication, emotional regulation, and sensory integration, working closely with the school's multidisciplinary team.
  • Promote independent learning and positive behavior by engaging students in structured activities that develop social interaction, executive functioning, and self-regulation skills.
  • Collaborate with class teachers and the SEN team to deliver a holistic approach to education, ensuring each child's academic, personal, and developmental progress is consistently monitored and supported.
  • Assist with the use of specialist resources to facilitate a calm and conducive learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback, adjusting strategies where necessary to support the best possible outcomes for the child.

Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with Autism, ADHD, and CLD in a school, care, or therapeutic environment is highly desirable.
  • A compassionate, adaptable, and patient approach to working with students who may display challenging behaviors or require additional emotional and behavioral support.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • A commitment to inclusive education, with a passion for helping children with special educational needs succeed in their own way.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, SEN qualifications) are advantageous but not essential, provided you have the right attitude and experience.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach, working alongside teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure every student receives the best possible support.
