About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Painter and Finisher to join our team at Todd Hayes Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality finishes on cabinetry and yacht interiors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare surfaces for finishing, filling, masking, and sanding timber and GRP using various grits of wet or dry paper and orbital sanders.
  • Block and hand sanding in acute areas to achieve a smooth finish.
  • Apply French Polishing techniques to repair and finish cabins and other boat furniture.
  • Hand apply finishes on solid and veneered timber products using water-based lacquers, paints, and hard wax oils.
  • Occasionally spray paint and varnish on timber and GRP using Polyurethane and Epoxy paint systems.
  • Carry out smart repairs using the Konig smart repair system.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, using the correct PPE when working, and understanding paint system requirements.
Requirements
  • Good working knowledge of painting and varnishing procedures.
  • Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work in a team on large-scale jobs and independently on smaller tasks.
  • Attention to detail, with a keen eye for quality and a right-first-time approach.
  • Experience in spraying paint/varnish on cabinetry, kitchens, bathrooms, and furniture (ideally 5+ years, time-served).
  • Wide experience in French Polishing techniques.
  • Smart repair experience desirable but not essential.
  • Marine experience desirable but not essential.
  • Relevant City & Guilds qualification.
