Your Role
As a Principal Safety Case Specialist, you will be a key player in our Safety Case Assessment team. Your expertise will be crucial in evaluating nuclear, explosive, and other significant hazards. Our safety case teams tackle a diverse array of projects, pushing the boundaries of innovation and addressing complex technical challenges, including:

  • Development of new facilities as part of a multibillion-pound capital program.
  • Strategic planning for future systems supporting the UK's long-term deterrent.
  • Maintenance and enhancement of existing facilities.
  • Decommissioning of outdated facilities.
  • Career advancement opportunities within and beyond AWE.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical input for essential safety documentation to support operations in complex environments.
  • Deliver comprehensive safety assessments and technical documentation adhering to AWE standards.
  • Collaborate with process owners to ensure compliance with contemporary standards and facilitate updates to company policies.
  • Provide technical guidance for the design and delivery of training programs.
  • Mentor junior safety analysts as part of a structured development plan.

Qualifications
  • A degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in developing safety cases across various industries, particularly in radiological, chemical, or explosive contexts.
  • Familiarity with safety case assessment methodologies.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Background in nuclear or highly regulated industries is preferred.
  • Professional membership in a relevant chartered body is advantageous.
