Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Instrument Project Engineer to join our team in the West Midlands. As an Instrument Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the full life-cycle management of chemical plant instrumentation projects from conceptualization to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full life-cycle of chemical plant instrumentation projects, including conceptualization, design, and commissioning.
  • Develop and implement instrumentation projects, including the selection and specification of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that instrumentation projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain instrumentation drawings, specifications, and other documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including DSEAR/ATEX and IEC61508/IEC61511.
  • Manage proof tests and ensure that all instrumentation systems are properly commissioned and validated.
  • Develop and implement Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) programs to ensure the reliability and efficiency of instrumentation systems.
  • Collaborate with the E&I Manager to develop and implement instrumentation strategies and plans.

Requirements:

  • Recognized Instrument apprenticeship and educated to HNC level as a minimum.
  • Several years' experience with the management of instrumentation projects.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation and control systems, including PLC controllers, safety instrumented systems, and intrinsic safety.
  • Experience working with CAD software and other documentation tools.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
