Job Title: Environmental Impact Specialist

Join Tower Hamlets Partnership as an Environmental Impact Specialist and contribute to the development of sustainable growth and regeneration in our borough.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) specialist to join our Development Management Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing screening and scoping opinions, scrutinising Environmental Statements (ESs), securing mitigation measures, and working with planning officers on EIA developments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare screening and scoping opinions to ensure compliance with The Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations (as amended)
  • Scrutinise ESs to ensure they meet the required standards
  • Secure mitigation measures to minimise the environmental impact of developments
  • Work with planning officers to ensure EIA developments are managed effectively
  • Manage contracts with external consultants and oversee the finances of the contracts
Requirements

The successful candidate will need to have a detailed understanding of The Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations (as amended), with specific knowledge of the local planning authority's roles and responsibilities. They will also need good time management skills, organisational skills, and an eye for detail, whilst being able to make robust decisions in a timely manner.
