Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting awareness and high standards of health, safety, and wellbeing across our organization. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with a talented team to drive a positive health and safety culture.

Main Responsibilities
  • Oversee the health and safety services for our organization, focusing on healthcare risks and estates and facilities services.
  • Facilitate effective leadership and provide advice and support at all levels relating to meeting statutory requirements.
  • Promote awareness and maintain high standards for health and safety, leading initiatives to address hazards and implementing interventions.
  • Communicate effectively across the organization, engaging with multidisciplinary teams and representing the department at meetings and audits.
  • Support with training, investigations, and monitoring, fostering awareness of health and safety throughout our activities.
  • Provide strategic advice and direction, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and designing policies to integrate safe practices across our organization.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Specialized knowledge of Health & Safety law and relevant legislations.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent diplomatic skills and ability to effectively manage difficult situations.
  • Advanced formal presentation skills, including the ability to convey complex concepts to a wide range of audiences.
Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • Education to Bachelor's Degree or relevant professional qualification/training or relevant experience.
    • NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management/Construction Safety or relevant experience.
  • Desirable:
    • Recognized qualification in auditing or able to demonstrate relevant experience in this field.
    • ISO Health and Safety.
Previous Experience
  • Essential:
    • Significant experience in managing health and safety statutory requirements at a senior management level within a large organization.
    • Proven construction/engineering experience and managing workplace safety in those environments.
    • Demonstrable experience in problem-solving to assist in developing robust plans and strategies within the workplace.
    • Significant experience of working in a busy multi-disciplinary environment, liaising with various staff from all levels and working to tight deadlines.
  • Desirable:
    • Health and safety trainer.
    • Previous experience in a similar role or environment is advantageous.
