Prospero Teaching is seeking dedicated Academic Support Specialists to provide personalized educational assistance on a one-on-one basis to secondary school students who are currently not enrolled in traditional schooling.
Role Responsibilities:
This position is ideal for individuals looking to transition from conventional teaching environments and positively impact the lives of disengaged and at-risk youth. Candidates should be adept at working with students who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. The successful specialist will be responsible for designing, planning, and delivering customized lessons aimed at addressing gaps in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 education, thereby enhancing student engagement and academic performance.
Contract/Position Details:
- Providing support within the community and in students' homes
- Academic Support Specialist
- Flexible part-time or full-time opportunities available
- Compensation of £30 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience
- Working hours will vary based on family preferences
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent credentials preferred
- Demonstrated experience in tutoring within the UK educational system
- Creative, patient, and innovative approach to teaching
- Experience working with SEMH or vulnerable youth
To qualify for this role, candidates must:
- Possess a valid UK Right to Work
- Have an enhanced DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to obtain one
- Provide two professional references covering the last two years of employment
