Overview of the Role
Working within the R&Co Payroll team in London, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate delivery of the UK and Guernsey payrolls (approximately 2,500 employees and pensioners across 9 payrolls).
Key Responsibilities
- Collate the monthly payroll data and provide it to the payroll vendor via a secure online portal.
- Review and reconcile the output, work with the payroll vendor to correct as necessary, and provide the appropriate reports for review and sign-off by the Payroll Manager.
- Ensure that all relevant deadlines are met and that payments are reconciled and made on time.
- Work with the wider Payroll team and other internal/external stakeholders to streamline processes.
- Provide high-quality and timely customer service to employees and other stakeholders across all UK and Guernsey businesses.
- Assist with post-payroll administration, including raising third-party payments, distributing P45s, preparing Payment After Leaving letters, etc.
- Responsible for the processing of team invoices.
- Prepare month-end journals and monitor the SAP GL interface process.
- Shared responsibility for maintaining the team mailbox and answering queries in a timely manner.
- Assist the Payroll Lead with ad-hoc requests.
- Involvement in New Joiner induction process.
Experience, Skills, and Competencies Required
- Must have mid-level UK Payroll experience (5+ years).
- Must have previously worked within a payroll team environment.
- Must have a good working knowledge of statutory payroll legislation/payroll calculations in the UK.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (Vlookup, Pivot tables).
- Track record of developing positive relationships with outsourced payroll vendors.
- Excellent attention to detail and numeracy skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Proactive and self-motivated.
- Strong analytical skills/critical thinking.
Desirable Experience
- Working with CloudPay as an outsourced payroll vendor.
- Year-end processing for the UK, including P60, P11d, and PSA.
