Key Responsibilities:
As a Lead Mechanical Project Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Gaining a comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering specifications for each project.
  • Reviewing and familiarizing yourself with foundational system schematics.
  • Analyzing conveyor manifests and equipment knowledge.
  • Estimating engineering hours and understanding project contract stipulations.
  • Serving as the technical liaison with client project representatives.
  • Defining project scopes and conducting 3D model assessments.
  • Addressing equipment and installation challenges.
  • Managing and executing mechanical change orders.
  • Ensuring compliance with customer specifications and standards.
  • Facilitating flow rate enhancements and mentoring junior Project Engineers.
  • Prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
  • Documenting mechanical lessons learned and overseeing equipment installation.
  • Addressing constructability and field-related issues.
  • Designing system-level solutions and managing change orders.

Project Management:
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining a mechanical engineering timeline that aligns with installation schedules. A thorough understanding of project contract documents, including clarifications and exceptions, is essential. You will execute projects within budgetary constraints and allocated hours.

Technical Support:
Providing extensive technical assistance to Project Engineers, vendors, field installation teams, and engineering subcontractors is a key aspect of this role. You will host regular meetings with project stakeholders and oversee task delegation to engineering team members.

Procurement and Compliance:
Assisting the Procurement team with the acquisition of long-lead items while ensuring adherence to project-specific requirements is vital. You will communicate project details across departments and release drawings for installation and fabrication.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in a schedule-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and applying customer specifications.
  • Strong communication skills with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Exceptional mentorship and teaching abilities.
  • Excellent time management capabilities.
  • Technical support experience for vendors and field personnel.
  • Solid industry knowledge, particularly in material handling equipment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and process improvements simultaneously.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Excel.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Inventor, Navisworks, and BIM is advantageous.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project is a plus.

Education:
A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering and design, along with six to ten years of experience in material handling equipment, preferably within the conveyor systems sector, is required.

Travel Requirements:
This position may involve some international travel, depending on project needs.
