About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Contracts Lawyer to join our growing legal team at Barnsley Council. As a key member of our Commercial team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice on commercial contracts and public procurement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directly line manage a team of Contracts Lawyers and Legal Assistants.
  • Work closely with senior management to develop and implement commercial strategies.
  • Deputise for the Principal Lawyer and provide support to Lawyers in the team.
  • Draft and negotiate complex commercial contracts.
  • Advise on all aspects of public procurement, including funding and grant agreements.
  • Provide expert advice to a range of stakeholders, including senior management and external partners.
  • Advising on complex/multi-million pound projects.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Contracts Lawyer who has a good understanding of commercial contracts and public procurement. You will have a strong track record of providing expert advice and guidance to stakeholders, and be able to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.
