About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Support Worker to join our team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (279). As a key member of our care team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with personal care, including meeting hygiene, nutrition, and continence needs.
  • Support patients with mobilization, as needed.
  • Take and record vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height, and weight, under the supervision of a qualified nurse.
  • Test specimens and record results.
  • Provide support to patients undergoing clinical procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Restock departmental areas as needed and report any shortages to the Nurse in Charge or Ward Manager.
Requirements
  • No previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant or in care is necessary, but you must demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment, and a compassionate attitude towards working with patients.
  • A commitment to completing all training, including the Care Certificate if applicable.
Desirable Criteria
  • Healthcare-related NVQ, BTEC, or equivalent at Level 3.
  • National Care Certificate.
  • Maths and English GCSE passes at grade D or above.
  • Previous care experience.
Person Specification
  • Good written communication skills.
  • Willingness for further development.
  • Evidence of having championed diversity in previous roles (as appropriate to role).
  • Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues.
