We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Support Worker to join our team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (279). As a key member of our care team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support.
Key Responsibilities- Assist patients with personal care, including meeting hygiene, nutrition, and continence needs.
- Support patients with mobilization, as needed.
- Take and record vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height, and weight, under the supervision of a qualified nurse.
- Test specimens and record results.
- Provide support to patients undergoing clinical procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Restock departmental areas as needed and report any shortages to the Nurse in Charge or Ward Manager.
- No previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant or in care is necessary, but you must demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment, and a compassionate attitude towards working with patients.
- A commitment to completing all training, including the Care Certificate if applicable.
- Healthcare-related NVQ, BTEC, or equivalent at Level 3.
- National Care Certificate.
- Maths and English GCSE passes at grade D or above.
- Previous care experience.
- Good written communication skills.
- Willingness for further development.
- Evidence of having championed diversity in previous roles (as appropriate to role).
- Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues.
