The Role

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will oversee and deliver designs for a variety of project types and sizes. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring a consistent high-quality service for clients while fostering new business opportunities and achieving profitability. This role is crucial in nurturing a team of technically proficient engineers within this high-performing sector and identifying new avenues for business development.

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of projects both domestically and internationally.
  • Design mechanical engineering systems utilizing advanced software design tools.
  • Lead mechanical services design on large-scale projects and take charge of small to medium-sized projects.
  • Projects encompass various sectors, including Education, Science and Research, Healthcare, Leisure, Residential, Commercial, Defence, and high-end mixed-use developments.
  • Develop initial strategic concepts for projects, ensuring compliance with briefs and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure solid technical delivery in your work, whether independently or as part of a team.
  • Mentor junior staff in their daily tasks, providing guidance to enhance their skills and maximize team performance.
  • Maintain financial awareness and collaborate with team leaders to monitor fee expenditures, resources, and project deliverables.
  • Explore innovative working methods and dedicate time to research and development to stay ahead of competitors.
  • Uphold a strong reputation within the local industry and ensure adherence to quality management and risk control procedures.

What We Seek

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Building Services Engineering.
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary environment, demonstrating excellent communication skills with both internal and external clients, and a collaborative work approach.
  • A holistic understanding of design principles, with experience across a range of projects.
