Job Description

Job Summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Transmission Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Transmission section, you will be responsible for designing and implementing new solutions for our Access and Core network migration to IP network and IP emulated TDM operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement new transmission network designs and solutions
  • Manage circuit migration and testing activities
  • Provide technical support to colleagues involved in migration activities
  • Review and monitor suppliers' design, implementation, and test activities
  • Supervise commissioning and acceptance testing of network solutions
  • Collaborate with peers, project managers, and external suppliers/contractors
  • Apply problem-solving skills to overcome technical challenges and implement innovative solutions

Requirements

  • Degree, HND, HNC, or other similar quality formal education
  • Experience in a transmission-related telecommunications field
  • Well-versed in microwave link planning and design
  • Experience in designing different transmission network topologies and IP-based devices
  • Specific experience in Access and Core telecom/mobile networks and operations engineering
  • Advanced knowledge of optical (DWDM, Dark fibre), fibre connectivity, BT MEAS/EAD products, IPVPN, SDH, and microwave systems
  • Strong knowledge of communications infrastructure, data centres, exchanges, and wiring practices
  • Experience in design and testing activities
  • Knowledge of layer 2 and layer 3 routing protocols, QOS design, transport aggregation, packet-based networks, multiplexing, and other related transmission techniques
  • Understanding of network and element management systems and north-bound interfaces
  • Strong knowledge of packet-based transmission networks
  • In-depth knowledge of transmission network equipment and techniques
  • In-depth knowledge of mobile network design
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of fault investigation and rectification in an operational environment
