We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced nurse to join our well-established specialist respiratory nurse team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will provide holistic care, including assessment, planning, and treatment, as well as advice and support to patients with respiratory conditions. They will also act as a resource to hospital staff and other healthcare professionals requiring specialist input.

This is a full-time permanent position that offers the opportunity to work autonomously within a supportive environment and enhance your current level of practice while developing your confidence and ability to independently review patients and make decisions.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing specialist respiratory care to patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions
  • Acting as a resource to hospital staff and other healthcare professionals requiring specialist input
  • Developing and implementing care plans to meet the needs of patients with respiratory conditions
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients
  • Participating in education and training programs to enhance knowledge and skills
Requirements

To be successful in this role, the candidate will need to have:

  • Extensive years of post-registration experience
  • Relevant post-registration experience, at Band 6 or above, in respiratory nursing
  • Experience of teaching and leadership
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team
Qualifications

The successful candidate will need to have:

  • Registered General Nurse
  • First level degree in a related subject
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Recognised Qualification in Respiratory Nursing (Asthma/COPD Diploma or higher)

The successful candidate will need to have:

  • IT literate
  • Teaching/assessment and presentation skills
  • Organisation and negotiation skills
  • Effective communication
  • Leadership and motivational skills
