Job Title: Goods In Team Leader

This is a hands-on management role with the primary objective of providing support to the senior management team in the smooth running of daily production operations. The successful candidate will lead an area of responsibility, ensuring operational effectiveness is maximised, KPIs are met, and high technical, quality and H&S standards are maintained and developed through management of people, processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and coordinate staff and activities in the respective area
  • Collect and provide Goods in relevant data to the management team
  • Work closely with Department Managers and other Team Managers providing regular feedback on team and individual performance and identifying training needs
  • Train new and existing staff on new products and procedures and help monitor compliance
  • Carry out periodic team briefs, appraisals, take active part in disciplinary process management to maintain and improve performance and promote development
  • In accordance with site schedules, help to close out any non-conformances raised during GMP, fabrication, hygiene and internal audits in a timely manner
  • Help investigate and follow up on all customer complaints and resolve internally/externally as required
  • Promote a culture of quality achievement and performance improvement through a team-based environment with the manufacturing teams
  • In accordance with site schedules audit site CCP and technical procedural paperwork, document any non-conformances with the management team and take the relevant corrective action to ensure compliance and control
  • Actively participate with the smooth running of all audits and visitors attending site
  • Ensure all equipment in the respective area is fully operational and any breakages are reported and actioned
Goods In:
  • Unload deliveries
  • Ensure all delivered goods are checked against paperwork to confirm correct items have been delivered, in the correct quantity and quality, without damage
  • Liaise with Technical department on quality issues/problems ensuring all products received in comply to the customer agreed specifications
  • Ensure all deliveries are booked in on Procure Wizard and required goods in paperwork is completed at all times
  • Ensure all shortages and late deliveries are reported in a timely manner to the relevant departments
  • Ensure the goods are segregated as per requesting departments in order to facilitate smooth flow of work throughout the day
  • Ensure all items delivered are clearly batch coded and put away in line with company procedure and stock rotated accordingly (FIFO)
  • Liaise with all other departments to maximise the productivity and efficiency of the business
  • Undertake and manage stocktaking activities as directed and keep stock control systems up to date
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work place
  • Establish and sustain high standards through impeccable attention to detail
  • Ensure you adhere to all relevant legislation (H&S, Hygiene, BRC, SALSA etc) and that any violations are reported to your line manager immediately
  • Ensure that all Fork Lift documentation including daily check sheets are completed. Correct care and safe use of all company equipment including Forklift, pallet trucks at all times
  • Must be able to commit to working shift patterns as and when the job demands
  • May be required to work as part of a team in other areas of the business. Can be allocated to any part of the line at the beginning of shift and will work doing the same role throughout therefore can be repetitive
  • Any additional duties as requested by the line manager
Requirements:
  • Experience at management level within a fast paced food manufacturing facility, ideally busy goods in/out environment
  • Ability to plan and coordinate production activities under pressure
  • Highly numerate with good understanding of written and spoken English
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Knowledgeable in people management practices including investigations, disciplinary procedure, and performance management and recruitment & selection processes
  • IT literate, mainly Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Forklift licence would be advantageous
