Role Objective

Located at the Eshiels Roads depot, the Scottish Borders Council is seeking a motivated individual to oversee and collaborate with a team in delivering essential front-line services. The ideal candidate will manage a crew engaged in various road maintenance tasks, including slabbing, kerbing, asphalt work, and seasonal maintenance.

This position necessitates the individual to ensure the delivery of a reliable and effective service according to established schedules. The candidate should possess relevant qualifications and/or specialized training. Responsibilities may encompass, but are not limited to, mechanical excavation tasks and participating in general road upkeep, which includes drainage, concrete work, kerbing, block paving, and asphalt applications. It is crucial that all work is conducted safely and responsibly, adhering to the applicable risk assessments for assigned duties. The role requires readiness to respond to emergencies throughout the year and participation in standby rotations for both summer and winter maintenance activities.

Requirements

- Basic educational qualifications (Numeracy and Literacy)

- Certified qualifications for relevant machinery and equipment operation (e.g., Lantra certificates, NPTC, SVQ II, CSCS, CPCS, or NPORS cards, or the ability to obtain these within a reasonable timeframe)

- A valid driving license and access to a vehicle are essential for this position. * In cases where a disability prevents holding a driver's license, the Scottish Borders Council will consider its obligation to make reasonable adjustments to accommodate the disability.
