Role Objective

Located at the Eshiels Roads depot, the Scottish Borders Council is seeking a motivated individual to oversee and collaborate with a team engaged in essential frontline services. The ideal candidate will manage a crew responsible for various road maintenance tasks, including slabbing, kerbing, blacktop application, and winter service operations.

This position necessitates the individual to facilitate the delivery of a proficient and effective service in line with established schedules. The successful candidate should possess relevant qualifications and/or specialized training. Responsibilities may encompass mechanical excavation tasks or, as part of a team, general road upkeep including drainage, concreting, kerbing, and blacktop activities. It is imperative that all work is conducted safely and responsibly, adhering to the relevant risk assessments for assigned duties. The role requires readiness to respond to emergencies throughout the year and participation in standby rotas for seasonal maintenance operations.

Required Qualifications

- Basic educational background (Numeracy and Literacy)

- Certified qualifications for relevant machinery and equipment operation (e.g., Lantra certificates, NPTC, SVQ II, CSCS, CPCS, or NPORS cards, or the ability to obtain them within a reasonable timeframe)
