About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Claims Specialist to join our team at Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for investigating, examining, negotiating, and settling credit insurance claims.

Key Responsibilities
  • Claims Investigation: Examine and assess submitted claims, making settlements within agreed authority schedules and specified timescales.
  • Claims Processing: Set up, review, and pay claims using bespoke IT systems.
  • Insolvency Management: Record and monitor insolvency dates forming the claim event.
  • Loss Mitigation: Assess opportunities to mitigate losses and follow up with ongoing communication.
  • Claims Analysis: Analytically assess claims, applying judgment to uncertified applications and final accounts.
  • Reserve Management: Calculate reserves and input data into the claim's system.
  • Insolvency Confirmation: Confirm insolvency events, collect loss information, and record it.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Liaise with Insolvency Practitioners and external stakeholders.
  • Fraud Detection: Identify fraudulent claims.
  • Meeting Attendance: Attend creditors' meetings, assist with proof of debt and proxies, and follow up on dividends.
  • Reporting: Report concerns to Risk/Underwriters for limit/cover reviews.
  • Loss Reporting: Inform management of potential large losses and record them on the department's tracking spreadsheet.
  • General Support: Handle general email and telephone queries.
  • Documentation Management: File claims documentation in a paperless system, keeping records up to date.
  • Policyholder Support: Liaise with underwriters and advise policyholders on claims procedures and cover.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other reasonable duties as instructed by the Claims Manager.
Requirements
  • Industry Experience: Experience in the construction industry.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a confident telephone manner.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other Microsoft applications.
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to assess complex matters and report succinctly.
  • Teamwork: Flexible, proactive attitude and team player.
  • Commercial Awareness: Commercial awareness.
  • Initiative: The ability to work on his own initiative.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail.
