The British Museum is seeking a skilled Philanthropy Officer to join its Advancement Department. As a key member of the Philanthropy Team, you will play a vital role in securing income from philanthropic supporters, including individuals and private trusts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to and support the Museum's work to secure income from a range of philanthropic supporters.
- Manage a pipeline of contacts, developing and implementing bespoke cultivation and stewardship strategies.
- Research and write persuasive fundraising proposals for core activity and priority projects.
- Work closely with the prospect research function and the wider Philanthropy team to identify new prospects for major gifts.
- Attend cultivation and stewardship events, and identify existing donors with the capacity for additional giving.
- Meet with prospects, either alone or with colleagues, to present fundraising proposals.
- Develop effective working relationships with Museum colleagues, including curators and senior representatives.
- Ensure the highest standard of donor care, through effective stewardship, financial gift management, thanking, reporting, and acknowledging.
- Adhere to internal processes and procedures for fundraising, reporting, financial management, and information management.
About You:
The successful candidate will be an effective face-to-face fundraiser with experience of securing high-value donations and managing significant donor relationships.
You will be highly motivated and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines and financial targets, with excellent communication and people management skills.
