Position Overview:

As a SENDCO, you will be instrumental in advocating for students with special educational needs and disabilities. Your role will involve collaborating closely with educators, support personnel, families, and external organizations to guarantee that our SEND services meet the highest standards. Your key responsibilities will encompass:

  • Overseeing and directing the SEND services throughout the institution.
  • Formulating and executing SEND policies and procedures.
  • Coordinating the assessment and identification processes for students with SEND.
  • Developing and reviewing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Providing training and guidance to teaching staff to promote inclusive educational practices.
  • Engaging with parents, guardians, and external agencies to ensure effective communication and support for students with SEND.
  • Monitoring and assessing the progress and achievements of students with SEND.
  • Staying informed about national trends and developments in SEND education.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is mandatory.
  • NASENCO qualification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in a SENDCO capacity or substantial experience working with children with SEND.
  • In-depth understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and external organizations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • A dedication to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of all students.
