About the Role

Cathedral Appointments | South West Recruitment is seeking an experienced Planning Associate to join our client's dynamic Environmental Law team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice on complex planning applications, Section 106 agreements, and other environmental matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on complex planning applications, including major development schemes in the waste sector, affordable housing sector, and private developer sector.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and planning authorities, ensuring effective communication and resolution of issues.
  • Conduct environmental due diligence on commercial and corporate transactions, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
  • Provide expert advice on contaminated land and remediation liability, invasive species, and protected species.
  • Support and develop less experienced colleagues, sharing knowledge and best practices.

About You:

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with good quality post-qualification experience in Planning and Environmental Law. You will have excellent technical understanding, strong client liaison skills, and a commercial awareness of the context in which each client operates.

As an Associate, you will work with a good degree of independence, seeking support and advice from more experienced colleagues on highly technical matters. You will be encouraged to innovate and think creatively about client aims and requirements, providing commercially relevant advice.
