Mechanical Estimation Specialist

About the Role
Atkins Search Limited is collaborating with a reputable Mechanical and Electrical Contractor to find a skilled Mechanical Estimation Specialist to enhance their dynamic and professional workforce.
We welcome applications from both experienced and junior Mechanical Estimators.
Our client boasts over four decades of expertise, establishing themselves as the preferred partner for numerous regional and national construction firms and developers across the country, as well as for various prestigious commercial and educational institutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare precise and competitive cost estimates for mechanical projects valued between £300k and £8m.
- Engage closely with clients, contractors, and internal teams to evaluate project specifications and requirements.
- Develop detailed cost estimates and proposals, encompassing materials, labor, equipment, subcontractor services, and overhead expenses.
- Review and analyze offers and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Foster relationships with suppliers, project managers, and subcontractors.
- Support the business unit director and provide weekly updates.
- Collaborate with sales, project management, and engineering teams to comprehend project specifications and timelines.
- Examine project plans, drawings, and specifications to ascertain the scope of work, materials, and labor needs.
- Conduct site visits and assessments to gather information and evaluate project feasibility and potential challenges.
- Identify project risks and uncertainties, developing strategies to mitigate them and ensure successful project delivery.
- Communicate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain pricing and quotes for materials and services.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, proposals, and project documentation, updating internal databases as necessary.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator in delivering commercial projects.
- Strong project awareness and understanding of the importance of adhering to timelines to maximize revenue.
