Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Development Manager to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in developing and launching innovative new products that meet the evolving needs of our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management & Collaboration
- Lead and manage all aspects of new product development (NPD) and existing product development (EPD) projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
- Conduct regular catch-up meetings and category project update meetings with internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with the Logistics Planning Department (LPD) to maintain an accurate master critical path for all active projects.
- Customer & Supplier Engagement
- Stay abreast of retailer and client policies, guidelines, and procedures related to product development.
- Attend food conferences and exhibitions to identify emerging trends, network with suppliers, and explore new product opportunities.
- Participate in client training programs focused on product development.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers regarding any changes or updates related to product development.
- Accompany clients on supplier visits as required for product development purposes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the category team to identify consumer insights, market trends, areas of innovation, and new business opportunities for both Private Label and Odysea brands.
- Liaise with the logistics team to address any potential NPD, EPD, or launch issues concerning transportation, storage, and supply chain management for both Private Label and Odysea brands.
- Collaborate with the LPD to update NDP/EPD project plans in a centralized location, ensuring stakeholder alignment and maintaining project momentum for both Private Label and Odysea brands.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role, such as product development or project management.
- In-depth knowledge and expertise in the food industry – a true 'foodie' who understands what constitutes high-quality products in terms of taste, appearance, and aroma.
- Organoleptic training.
- Strong understanding of Mediterranean products, including olives, olive oil, feta cheese, yogurt, and honey.
- Proven project management skills – resourceful, problem-solver, forward-thinking, and adept at risk management.
- Familiarity with UK retailer policies and guidelines.
- Desirable Skills: Packaging, Nutrition, Shelf Life, Allergen Management, Food Safety, Quality Management, Statistical Sampling, Food Legislation, EU and UK legislation familiarity. Experience with Ethical Trading Principles, Sustainability, Health & Safety at Work, Sedex.
