Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor in Anaesthetics to join our team at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality anaesthetic services and contributing to the development of our anaesthetic department.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality anaesthetic services to patients, ensuring a high standard of care and patient safety.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours rota, providing cover for anaesthetic services across all three sites.
  • Contribute to the development of our anaesthetic department, including the implementation of new procedures and protocols.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and effective communication.
Requirements
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a Licence to practice.
  • At least five years postgraduate experience in specialty training in Anaesthetics or equivalent.
  • General medical experience equivalent to UK Foundation Training.
  • Ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients, relatives, and colleagues in all disciplines.
  • Aptitude for practical skills necessary for anaesthesia.
  • Ability to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
  • Final FRCA or equivalent.
  • FRCA level or actively approaching this.
  • Evidence of relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) or Continuing Professional Development (CPD) from previous two years.
  • Evidence of interest and experience in teaching trainees in anaesthesia and other specialties, nurses, and professions allied to medicine.
Working Arrangements

The post holder will be expected to work across all three sites, including Wrightington, Wigan, and Leigh. The successful candidate will be required to participate in the out-of-hours rota and maintain a high standard of care.

The post holder will be expected to comply with all aspects of clinical governance and contribute to the development of our anaesthetic department.
