Balfour Beatty VINCI is seeking an experienced Ecological Mitigation Specialist to join our team in Kingsbury, Birmingham. As a key member of our Environment and Sustainability team, you will play a crucial role in delivering ecological and landscape mitigation projects for the HS2 project.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the E&A#27/Ecology & Landscape Project Management & Delivery Team to provide contractual support and guidance and drive performance in the delivery of ecological and landscape mitigation (including surveys and monitoring) to facilitate Sublot delivery programmes and the construction of HS2 permanent mitigation.
- Drive the E&A#27/Ecology & Landscape Project Management & Delivery Team to deliver their key functions and accountabilities.
- Continue to build effective relationships between the routewide Ecology and Landscape Teams and the Sublot Delivery Teams, and to ensure that timely environmental support is provided to assist with the achievement of Key Milestones.
- Oversee the procurement of works through subcontracts or frameworks and to performance manage delivery.
- Minimum 10 years practical experience delivering construction projects.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the delivery and management of NEC contracts.
- Expert knowledge of current Legislation, BBV's contractual scope and HS2 Technical Standards & Specifications and the Code of Construction Practice.
- Previous experience of working within BBV Delivery Teams would be advantageous for the role.
- Strong collaboration, critical evaluation skills, problem solving, interpersonal, team-working, listening, communication and information technology (IT) skills.
- Experience of ecology and landscaping works desirable.
Balfour Beatty VINCI is a long-established joint venture between two powerhouses for the delivery of critical infrastructure across rail, transport and other iconic projects in the UK and beyond. We started working together over 30 years ago to deliver the Channel Tunnel, as members of the Trans Manche Link consortium. In the Midlands, it is Balfour Beatty VINCI's role to design and build the route, ready for tracks and signalling to be installed. Our work with HS2 Balfour Beatty VINCI have been awarded a 90km section of the HS2 project from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and then on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.
Overall, we will be building the following across all our sites:
- 9.3km of viaducts
- 62 overbridges
- 35 cuttings
- 56 culverts
- 62 embankments
- 2 twin bore tunnels and 2 cut and cover tunnels
- 28 underbridges and 11 underpasses
