About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at Five Education Recruitment Limited. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a range of settings across South Gloucestershire.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support individual pupils to develop positive self-regulation skills and improve their engagement with core curriculum subjects.
  • Manage challenging behaviour in accordance with the school's approach and ensure pupil safety and welfare is maintained at all times.
  • Deliver planned interventions and work collaboratively with other staff to achieve student targets.
  • Provide feedback to the SENDCo/class teacher on student progress and development.
Essential Criteria
  • Prior experience working with young people who have additional needs and a strong understanding of SEND principles.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Good listening skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Patience and resilience when working with students who may present challenging behaviour.
Desirable Criteria
  • Team Teach training or experience and a relevant Education/Teaching Assistant qualification.
