Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Asset Planning Sponsor to join our Water Service Delivery team at Yorkshire Water. As an Asset Planning Sponsor, you will play a key role in identifying asset risks and opportunities, working closely with operational colleagues to develop mitigations and drive success towards Yorkshire Water's Performance Commitments.

About the Role:

The Asset Planning Sponsor will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with operational colleagues to identify asset risks or opportunities that may require additional intervention to resolve.
  • Understanding the Business Need in the context of the company's strategic, operational and regulatory drivers.
  • Identifying and leading investigations into asset performance shortfalls or opportunities and identifying a notional solution where appropriate.
  • Leading projects through the investigation phase, ensuring that potential solutions to new regulatory obligations or asset performance shortfalls are fully investigated, utilising expert and partner resources as required.
  • Driving TOTEX hierarchy opportunities (maximising no build, process optimisation, improved maintenance) before considering CAPEX.
  • Balancing OPEX, CAPEX and Carbon along with business needs resilience to achieve an optimum output.
  • Commercial discussions and challenges with Contract Partners.
  • Ownership of the Business Case and securing funding for the project through business governance routes.
  • Understanding project risks during the life of the scheme, through Scope change (quality), Cost, Time and managing any residual risk.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Engineering / process knowledge and experience of Clean Water Distribution asset base and its operation.
  • Risk Management understanding and experience.
  • Understanding of Yorkshire Water Performance Commitments.
  • Influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Well organised and methodical.
  • Ability to understand root cause analysis.
  • Understanding of Engineering Specifications.
  • Understanding of site process safety – representation in Hazard Study Process.
  • Full Driving Licence.

Desirable Qualifications:

Candidates with the following qualifications will be advantageous:

  • CDM awareness/SMSTS Construction to enable development of safety culture and competence in completing PCI.
  • NEBOSH.
  • Site construction activities.
  • Experience of partnership/collaborative working.
