Position Overview
This position serves as the Assistant Chief Clinical Psychologist within the Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust, specifically focusing on Community Perinatal Mental Health Services. The Assistant Chief plays a crucial role in aiding the Chief Psychologist in overseeing, enhancing, and managing the psychological therapy services across multiple community teams.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Collaborate with the psychological leadership team to shape and refine therapy pathways for our services.
- Seek candidates with expertise in systemic therapy, as well as those with BABCP accreditation in delivering CBT, EMDR, and/or DBT, to lead these therapeutic models within the service.
- Deliver high-quality, specialized perinatal clinical psychology and psychotherapy services to clients, ensuring comprehensive care across all sectors.
- Provide clinical supervision and consultation to team members, fostering a supportive environment for psychological assessment and treatment.
- Engage in audit and research initiatives within the perinatal mental health domain.
- Act as a deputy in the absence of the Consultant Perinatal Clinical Psychologist.
- Propose and implement policy enhancements relevant to the service area.
About Our Services
The perinatal mental health services encompass several community teams, a specialized maternity trauma and loss care team, and a dedicated Mother and Baby Unit. Our multidisciplinary teams include psychologists, art therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and medical professionals, all committed to developing effective frameworks for delivering interventions such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, and more.
The primary goal of these teams is to identify, prevent, and address perinatal mental health challenges, ultimately enhancing the experiences of pregnancy and the postpartum period for women and their families.
Candidate Profile
We are in search of motivated clinical psychologists who are eager to lead the evolution of psychological therapies within our perinatal mental health services. Ideal candidates will have an interest in systemic therapy training or leading CBT or EMDR provisions and possess experience in trauma-informed care.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential qualifications include:
- Doctoral-level training in clinical psychology, accredited by the BPS.
- Registration with the Health Professions Council as a Clinical Psychologist.
- Demonstrated experience in the designated specialty and a variety of client groups.
- Experience in clinical supervision and training.
Desirable qualifications may include post-doctoral training in specialized psychological practices and experience in managing teams or services.
